yes I agree - but they can open people's minds to another way of thinking or other ways of seeing the world. Reading Autobiography of a Yogi was quite life changing for me in many ways

The word can point the way but acceptance and identification is a personal choice for eacho ne and depends on our personal growth, are we ready or not. In this we have Gods free will to make that choice.
